wasabi paste (wasabe) wasabi paste (wasabe) (japanese horseradish) NOTICE: These products are no longer available, sorry for the inconvenience.
wasabi paste is a very spicy and very flavorful japanese horseradish that is commonly used for sushi, but is FAR more versatile, and very helpful to those of us on the atkins diet or other low carb diets. Why? Because wasabi paste adds something special to everything from dips to ice cream, and adds virtually no carbs! Chef Allan was exposed to Wasabi paste in Hawaii, where it is used extensively. He's tasted them all, and by far prefers the brand of wasabi paste we offer. The 1.5 oz squeeze tube is handy for dispensing wasabi paste accurately, while being creative and decorative. It goes a long way! It can make a spicy sauce, barbeque sauce, cocktail sauce, etc., that allows you to use far less of the tomato paste or ketchup that adds carbs (it allows you to use less of it, while still tasting great). We use it in the low carb yummies cafe for oriental sauces and dressings (see our recipes). At home, we squeeze a little on the side of our plates to add a zingy blast to almost everything we eat from broccoli to meat. It's hot!!! and spicy, but very different than the kind of hot you get from chili's and hot sauces. It comes on quickly with a hot rush, then leaves just as quickly. Whereas chili based hot sauces can come on slowly, and burn for a very long time. |

Carb count accuracy is important to us because we are diabetics and dieters ourselves. The carbohydrate amounts given are "to the best of our knowledge". Most are from manufacturers.
